-Week started off horrible. Profile issues which led to finding AD not responding which led to reboots which led to people complaining.
-Symantec Mail Security still down and I am moving to a hosted solution.

-What does it mean to a SysAdmin?? Why should we care?
-I think it matters because it is a huge step away from the software development model and into the content/services model. Will they lose focus and can they afford to do so? Can they have two core competencies? Or is this one even possible to be a competency?
-What will it mean from an integration standpoint? I don't want to see products delayed or features dictated by their other pursuits.

  • iMac in the House
-Loving the new iMac. Moving iTunes is a pain, but I finally got that done. I'm importing the photo library now. (7,000+ photos).
-Kids are having a blast with PhotoBooth?. In less than a day they made 182 videos. I'm starting to think I should have bought the larger HDD.

From listener....Jed Reynolds Jed sent in a couple emails in response to the discussions about command shells. I'm going to have to defer to Steve on this one. Since Steve is not with us this week, I'm sure he'll get back to Jed when he has the chance.

From listener....Doug Sorry for the delay in this one Doug. Doug sent in a response to my Christmas wish for a RAID flash drive. Apparently EMC is coming out with flash based drives for their Symmetrix DMX4? series SAN solutions. No info on the actual drives, but they indicate it is targeted to fast response OLTP needs. 97% less energy and 1/10 the response time of 15K Fibre Channel drives. Not ready for the pocket or my wallet yet, but the idea is there.

From listener....Andy from absoblogginlutely.net You probably got spam from the FIT forums if you didn't hide your email address in your profile properties. If you don't then it is publicly available to use (although you do need to be another user of the forums to obtain it - but that isn't difficult to do.)

From listener...Jason VonRuden? over at FantasticFreeware?.com Jason wrote in to thank us for his USB thumb drive that he won in the 'Post-A-Review' contest. He also indicates he is becoming a PowerShell convert, so Steve gets another one drinking the Kool-Aid. Three more converts and he wins a free trip to Redmond.
